Mission Statement

After learning about the challenges faced by women and families experiencing financial hardship, we were shocked to discover how many individuals struggle to afford necessities such as menstrual products, diapers, and baby care supplies. Over 500 million women and girls lack access to menstural products and hygiene facilities.  No one should have to choose between purchasing these basic essentials and meeting other everyday needs.

As young women, we felt a personal connection to the issue of period poverty and wanted to create meaningful change within our community. By establishing The Giving Cycle, we aim to reduce barriers to menstrual and infant care products, raise awareness about these often-hidden struggles, and support local shelters and organizations serving women and families in need. We believe that access to hygiene products is not a privilege—it is a basic necessity—and through collective action, we can help ensure that everyone has access to the care and dignity they deserve.

Who we are

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to educating and helping women! We want to distribute feminine care products and knowledge on female health and hygiene. By dispensing different hygiene products (e.g. pads and tampons) and infant care, we aim to ensure all females are taken care of, regardless of age. We will be doing this by donating to women’s shelters including “I Support the Girls”, “The Shoebox Project”, "“Oasis”, and “Homefront”. These organizations lend out these products to women/children in poverty in need of these feminine hygiene products, postpartum care, and infant care..

Why We Do It

We are Avika and Alex, high school juniors and co‑founders of The Giving Cycle. We created this organization because we believe access to feminine hygiene products is a basic human need — not a privilege.
Through our product donation programs and educational outreach, we hope to reduce period poverty, raise awareness, and empower women and girls to learn about their own health with confidence.
Our mission is to make a meaningful impact in the community around us and inspire more young people to step up and take action. Together, we can start a cycle of compassion, care, and change.
